Dry Rot and Termites

Termite damage and dry rot can be absolutely detrimental to your property.
Wood Rot:
The common type of wood rot you may encounter and what is often confused with termite damage is dry rot. Dry rot is caused by fungi that attack wood and destroys its interior structure, Dry rot occurs when wood is continuously exposed to moisture. As the rot continues the integrity of the wood diminishes, creating deflections in the structure or even collapse.

Termites can invade a structure when the wood is wet and soft. If a building is well built and keeps the elements out, normally termites wont attack. Lack of maintenance, openings in the home, moist wood, and dirt thrown up against a home can invite these insects into your home.
